The Toronto Maple Leafs acquired injured forward Riley Nash on Friday in exchange for a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft.

The seventh-round selection will become a sixth-round pick if Nash appears in 25 percent of the Maple Leafs' playoff games this season.

Nash, who was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, is expected to be sidelined four-to-six weeks with an ailing knee.

The 10-year NHL veteran sustained the knee sprain Sunday after colliding with Florida's Noel Acciari in the second period of Columbus' 3-0 loss to the Panthers.

Nash, who turns 32 next month, is in the final season of a three-year, $8.25 million contract. He is set to become an unrestricted free agent in the offseason.

"Riley Nash is a terrific person and hard-working player that has been a solid contributor to our club over the past three seasons," Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen said. "We appreciate everything he has done as a Blue Jacket and wish him the best in the future."

Nash has recorded seven points (two goals, five assists) in 37 games this season for Columbus. He has 172 points (63 goals, 109 assists) in 578 career games with the Carolina Hurricanes (2011-16), Boston Bruins (2016-18) and Blue Jackets.

Nash was selected 21st overall in the 2007 draft by the Edmonton Oilers.
